Rights Respecting

Rights of the Child

Meet Bryn Awel’s ‘Rights Respecting’ pupil voice group!

As a Rights Respecting school we aim to put Children’s Rights at the heart of our school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential.

We have successfully achieved the first stage of the Rights Respecting School Award! We are now a Bronze school: Rights Committed

Our school is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation.

Article of the Week!

This week we are celebrating Earth Hour. The articles we are focusing on are:

Article 6 – Life, survival and development

Article 12 – respect for the views of the child

Article 24 – Health and health services

We set up a school wellbeing account on Twitter –Everyone designed a badge with a name for the account and we chose a winner (@MendingMindsBA)

Two members of our Rights Respecting group are also members of the Caerphilly Junior Forum. Our mascot is Bobby the Bear.
